Out of the dust and dirt the new Tobar Mhuire has emerged. Still retaining it's legendary warm homely atmosphere but renewed and refreshed and ready to welcome old and new friends alike.
Building on the great legacy of former Passionists we have exciting plans for the future of Tobar Mhuire Retreat and Conference Centre.
We are now a well equipped modern Retreat and Conference Centre, set in sixty acres of woodland, in the heart of County Down. Visitors will enjoy our new facilities as well as the peace and quiet of the wonderful surroundings.
We welcome individuals and groups from Ireland and beyond who wish to take time out to reflect on their human and spiritual development. In Tobar Mhuire they will find a peaceful setting and encouragement from the Passionist Community who reside there.
We invite not only individuals and groups already committed to the Faith but also those who have yet to discover a sense of the Sacred in their lives. Those still searching and questioning will find a welcome in Tobar Mhuire.
The Passionist Community extend a welcome to their sisters and brothers of the Reformed Churches and hope that the resource that is Tobar Mhuire Retreat and Conference Centre will become a shared blessing for all.

Thanks to all our Volunteers
A BIG thank you to the small group of locals who joined us for volunteer day yesterday, among them were members of Crossgar Harriers..together, they made a great contribution to the work of the day Thankfully a number of groups from Belfast and Garnerville also helped to make the Volunteer Day such a success. We were joined by young men from our parish in Belfast, Down & Connor Cursillo, group who use our centre regularly, and cadets from PSNI college Garnerville. The weather was great so we got a lot done. Our kitchen staff made sure we were well fed throughout the day. Special mention to Brian, Leo, Yvonne and Sharon members of our staff who volunteered their services and kept us all on our toes throughout the day. Also John and David friends of Tobar Mhuire who travelled all the way from Dublin to help out. Finally I want to pay tribute to our regular volunteers who work with us very generously all year round. Their commitment is a vital part of making Tobar Mhuire a resource for all.
Thanks Fr. John cp
Summer Conference Tobar Mhuire Retreat July 7th -8th 2016
Professor Thomas Groome from Boston College USA will be the keynote speaker at this summer's institute. The conference is open to all. This is an event that many people look forward to every summer. The theme will be based on his latest book "Will there be Faith" described as : A Modern Manual for Sharing a Relevant, Vibrant, Enduring Faith
In the face of mounting obstacles, parents and educators find themselves increasingly challenged by the task of leading people toward lives of faith. Now Thomas Groome, a world-renowned authority on religious education, has created a contemporary, holistic approach to teaching Christian beliefs and values that offers real, effective solutions for today s parents and teachers. His guide to religious education which aims to bring life to Faith and Faith to life is a hopeful road map for re-energizing the faith community and family from the bottom up. "
